Here are some pics of the works up on the exhibition, including the life - size puppets.

Collages

Digital Prints

Showtime

This year i had my first solo exhibition at the KZNSA, in Durban, in May. The exhibition was titled 'Showtime', and consisted of digital prints, collages, and life - puppets. the digital prints were photographs of areas around Durban that I had Photoshop - ed my subverted figures into.

This is one of the many digital prints that were on exhibition.

Animation Stills

The backgrounds of the shots were created by using fabrics, cut - outs and props (necklaces etc). most skits ranged from 1 - 2 minutes, but my final peice for my end of year exam was 8 minutes in total, using over 3000 images to complete the seqences.

Stop Frame Animations

These were the focus of my studies. Here you will see a variety of different stills from my many differnet short skills that were created.

Digital Prints and Collage

Digital prints and collages played an importent role in my work, as this is where the animations, dioramas and puppets originated from.

Dioramas

My work consisted of dioramas, which showed my puppets within a three dimentional world created using fabrics, wool, collage and a variety of other materials (eg: sandpaper).

Introductions

My name is Amy-Jo Windt, I am a mixed media artist, living and working in Durban, South Africa. In 2009 I graduated from the Durban University of Technology with a Bachelors Degree in Technology in Fine Art. I specialized in collage, digital prints, and stop frame animations.

My main area of study within my final paper is the manipulation of mass media imagery in the work of Wangechi Mutu and Hannah Hoch. In my work I collage images of subverted female figures out of fashion and life style magazines. I then have taken these figures, and blown them up into 'poster size' prints to emphasize the medium of advertising. I have also taken the figures and created puppets out of them and used the puppets within my stop frame animated films, in which i created small skits. My work also consisted of dioramas in which I manufactured a three - dimentional world, from skits performed in the animations.
